About Lauren
As a Billings native, Lauren devotes her musical experience towards growing opportunities for flutists and musicians throughout the region.
An active orchestral musician and performer, Lauren is entering her eighth season performing with the Billings Symphony, from which she received tenure in 2023. Lauren also performs on both flute and piccolo with various orchestras across Montana including Bozeman Symphony, Missoula Symphony, Great Falls Symphony, Rimrock Opera, Billings Studio Theater, and Montana Theatreworks. Lauren also enjoys chamber music collaborations with colleagues & friends, and has most recently toured as a member of the Billings Symphony Woodwind Quintet. As a soloist, Lauren has been a selected participant for the Zodiac Music Festival in France, performed as a member of the NFA Collegiate Flute Choir, and earned two prizes in the CedarLuke Young Artist Competition (2017 & 2019).
Equally at home on the podium, Lauren serves as the Repertory Woodwinds Coach for the Billings Symphony Youth Orchestra. She also founded and directs the Magic City Flutes, a flute choir serving flutists of all ages in Billings and surrounding areas.
In addition to private teaching, Lauren also teaches at the collegiate level as adjunct flute faculty at Rocky Mountain College in Billings. She has adjudicated various music festivals throughout Montana and has taught and performed at numerous summer music camps, including Red Lodge Music Festival, Yellowstone Music Camp, and the University of Montana summer music camp. She has also presented sessions for the Montana Flute Association, which she serves as a board member for.
Lauren graduated with a degree in music performance from the University of Montana, where she studied with Margaret Schuberg. Lauren also completed post-graduate private flute studies with Diana Morgan, and studied with Millie Marsh throughout her teenage years in Billings. Lauren is fortunate to have performed in masterclasses for Jim Walker, Carol Wincenc, Merianne Gedidigan, Erica Peel, Alberto Almarza, and Jennifer Grimm.
Outside of her musical world, Lauren enjoys dancing in adult ballet classes, gardening, gaming, stargazing/astronomy, and spending time with her family in nature.

Lauren believes in cultivating musical skills and experience, as well as creating and seeking musical avenues that allow for student growth and opportunity. She provides her students with strong fundamentals, accessible resources, and a supportive performance environment to gain first-hand knowledge.
